No work today so I have a day to myself with the SOH driving back to the UK in his van. Italy has a run of bank holidays this month which I kinda like ( even though I don't get paid) but... May in Abruzzo,  has got to be one of the most beautiful months.  Our olive trees are sprouting new branches and the new spring grass grows so quickly, we are mowing every day. We survived the  second winter in our caravan but our little home is showing signs now of tiredness and heavy wear. The floor is very springy so we need to do some maintance if we are going to be here and cope with another snowy and icy mountain winter. Anyway, back to today... I felt a spring clean moment coming on so I cleaned out 3 of the cabin cupboards which contain food. We have nine small cupboards. Dunc has three for his clothes, one is our medicine/pill cupboard and the rest  are for general supplies of tins, packets, groceries.  There are some things that I refuse to live without such as bisto gravy powder, paxo stuffing mix, english tea, golden syrup etcc  OK, that took 10 minutes so what next... A Delia Smith moment now... If anyone thinks cooking in a caravan is difficult, well you would be right. My oven has two temperatures - on and off but even so,  my hot cross buns came out a treat so maybe a coffee and walnut cake next. Cakes and biscuits are decidedly plain here  so its nice to pig out on something sweet and rather english.
In the next few blogs, I will and explain what the hell we are doing, living in this caravan in Italy so please stay and read the next chapter... It's been three years now so I don't really think about it too much. It's only when I tell people that I live in a caravan and they look, well, visibly shocked and somewhat horrified. "But you dress so nicely!", was one comment I had a few weeks ago.
